Zettai Kareshi (Absolute Boyfriend)

This 32-chapter manga is written by Yuu Watase, same creator of Fushigi Yuugi. The story is about a high-school girl named Riiko Izawa who got dumped by the guy she confessed to. Then, she purchased a robotic guy online. It was delivered the very next day and he insisted that he is Riiko's ideal boyfriend. After learning about Riiko's "boyfriend", her childhood friend is starting to show affections on her. Thus, a light-hearted love story has begun.

Honestly, when I first read a chapter of it on one issue of Shoujo Beat, i thought that this is just a bizarre comedy love story with full of fanservice in it. That made an impression of me. Few months have passed, while searching on shujo manga titles that I'm going to read next, I came across with this title again. This time, I gave it a try. From then on, Zettai Karshi or ABsolute Boyfriend proved that I'm very wrong in judging it right away.

The plot is not that unique since there are also other stories like that about human-robot relationship and its very shoujo-ish. There are also some fanservices (mostly by Night..XD). It started fast and the mood is light. As the story progresses, it makes you want to know more what will happen next. The ending is good. i'm really contented in how it ends since it's realistic and makes me love it more.

The heroine is, of course, the usual type. An ordinary girl surrounded with bishies. On some occasions, she can be dumb and be overwhelmed by her emotions. One good point of hers is the growth of her character. Night, on the other hand is really awsome (well, he's programmed to be like that) but it will also give me creeps if there's really a guy like that.

If you're a fan of Fushigi Yuugi, then most likely you'll find some striking resemblance of the characters of both stories. Girls ( who love bishies) would enjoy reading this as the guys were drawn beautifully.

Overall, this is a worth reading manga that even if you're not a fan of Yuu Watase's work, you'll surely love this.

Note: The live adaptation of this was shown in Japan last year starring Hayami Mokomichi as Tenjo Night, Mizushima Hiro as Asamoto Soshi, and Aibu Saki as Izawa Riiko.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 (Anime)

The season two started a year after the "death" of Zero thus Lelouch returns to his normal highschool life. after his meeting with C.C again, he remembered his identity as Zero and what happened after the last episode of season one making Lelouch more revengeful than before.

I never thought that this season of Code Geass would be more intersting than its first season. Though I'm not a fan of CLAMP's works, I love this series, plot-wise and art-wise.

Compared to its first season, R2 has a lot of twists and turns that will eventually keep you at the edge of your seats. it has beome darker and more dramatic as the characters verged more of their serious side. The characters maturity adds to the mind-boggling plot of the story.

Speaking of characters, some of the come-backing characters have their vengeful plots. Addition to that is the appearance of new characters which will surely make the story more interesting and may help in the unfolding of mysteries and questions previously arise from the season one.

The opening songs, O2 by Orange Range and World End by Colours are all good. While the ending song Shiawase Neiro is a bit sad (but still good) and the ending video looks based from manga.

All in all, if you're really a hardcore fan of Code Geass then you'll surely love this one. This is an action packed anime plus the mecha genre along with it.

The Girl who Leapt through Time (Toki wa Kakeru Shoujo)

"Time waits for no one."

Was there a time in your life that you want to go back and probably change the actions that you've done? The heroine of the story, Makoto Konno, can actually leapt through time and return to the past. She got her power by accident in the Science room of their school.

The animation of this movie may not be the best, but I can say that the story is one of the best. There are scenes that were repeated a couple of times (because of the leaping) but didn't appear to be boring. It just shows how the time leaping affects others which results to various consequences. You can also enjoy the movie by its very calming insert (Kawaranai Mono) and ending (Garnet) songs both sung by Hanako Oku.

What's good in this animated movie is the message it conveys to the audience. It shows how important time is. This will also make you laugh and cry.

Certainly, the creators did a very good job in this movie. So watch this movie now because as the movie says, Time waits for no one.

Charisma Doll (Manga)

It is usual for high school girls to admire popular singers and bands. Miyuki Sara is no different from them. She's a fan of the No. 1 group, The Rise particularly the band's lead singer named Hayase Shidou. The two of them are students of Toua High, a special entertainment school.

Sala is a popular singer whose gender is unknown to public. Only her manager/mother and her cousin, Kazuma knows her real identity. In fact, Sala is the secret identity of Sara. But what will she do if her idol and the guy she likes is also her rival in the entetainment business?

Charisma Doll, written by Kurahashi Erika is a nine chapter manga with one special chapter.

Storywise, the story focuses more on the love story of the main characters. it's sad that it didn't give more attention on the struggle of Sara to be famous just by herself, not as Sala. As for the characters, some doesn't have much personality development throughout the story. The character of Sara was, of course, clearly established.

The drawing is nice and clearly drawn. Every character in the story is either a bishoujo or bishounen. It is also detailed in drawing since the mangaka drew the characters big enough to see.

Though it is a short manga, it didn't fail to give the readers a lesson in life. That also adds to the cuteness and depth of the story.

All in all, this manga is good. This is appealing especially to the readers who likes idol stories. Well, even if you are not, you'll surely love this shoujo manga.

School Days (Anime)

I already heard a lot of comments from those who have watched this anime. my classmate said that this is a good anime. Others have said that this is quite psychotic. So i gave it a try. After watching the first 2 episodes, I jumped to the last episode since I'm fond of watching the last episode to make sure if it is interesting (especially if the anime is not that known to me). What was my reaction? It's weird. The main character was killed (ooopppps...spoiler..gomen). Another one was killed. you will say that I am bias with my reaction because I've only watched 3 episodes (the first two and the last episode). What I did was to search some episode spoilers on the internet and there i found out other things (if you want to know what I found out, try finding it our for yourself..XP). I just realized that this isn't my type of anime. I'd still prefer Ef-A Tale of Memories and Tokimeki Memorial over this..(>_<..are they comparable with each other??)
Still, the story is promising. I just don't like the development of characters.

Ef- A Tale of Memories (Anime)

This anime show is based from a game entitled Ef-A Tale of Two. the story is about the two protagonists, Asou Renji and Hirono Hiro.
I'm so moved with this show that made me want to watch it again. I've made a good decision for choosing it. I don't know how to put it into words but it conveys a message in my heart. The graphics were good, though I just noticed that the female main characters have the same color, pink.hehe.. It is amazing for a short-series like that to have many theme songs. It also added some nudity but not the ecchi one, i think.
The story may start as the plain one but eventually, you'll get interested as the series progresses. The characters have their own development in the series. What's important is the message of the story. But I still have questions in the end. Like, Who is Yuko? Why is Himura-san waiting for her? Why does she always come and go during the characters' moment? Why is Himura-san taking care of Chihiro? Are they somewhat related? Is Chihiro cured from her amnesia? Why did she remembered him when he ot back to the train station? Why does Kyosuke hasn't given more exposure? ^^
I really rally wanted to watch this again..

I have learned from the series the importance of yume and memories. In fulfilling your dreams, there are memories that you need to treasure..

The next season of this entitled, Ef-A Tale of Melodies will come out this coming October..from ANN.com

Kindly post your comments about this review..

P.S This is another repost from my multiply site..

Shinshi Doumei Cross (Manga)

In Imperial Academy, students are classified into ranks. the ranks ranges from Gold, Silver, and Copper. Haine Otomiya, the heroine of the story, ranks as Copper in the Academy. She is inlove with the Koutei (Emperor) Shizumasa Tougu, the only Gold ranked student and heir of the Tougu family.

This 47-chapter shoujo manga was written by Arina Tanemura, same mangaka of the popular Full Moon wo Sagashite. The story revolves around Haine, her family, friends, and lovelife. Expect this manga to provide you with lots of twists every now and then. As the story progresses, same goes to the development of the characters.

The characters were drawn beautifully. From the looks to their clothes, it is all good. There are also times that a certain character will remind you or certainly, looks like the another character.

I guess, the only negative comment I can give to this manga is that it ended so quick. There are things that still need to be disclose or give further attention. All in all, Shinshi Doumei Cross is a must read..
