Character of the Week: Lelouch Lamperouge

Code Geass has long been ended but I'm still putting Lelouch on this week's spotlight. He started as a student of Ashford Academy who, together with his friend Rivalz, likes to gamble with the nobles by playing chess. One day, after his game, they spotted a vehicle being hunted by the police. The vehicle was being driven by an Eleven (that's how they call the Japanese) who opposes the Britannian rule. Lelouch, being curious with the vehicle, explored it himself. There he found a capsule-like thing which contains a girl with a long green hair. Afterwards, while on the verge of death because of the shot of a Britannian soldier, the girl he earlier found offered him a power which is called Geass. That's how he obtained the Geass. By the way, his geass is "Geass of Absolute Obedience".

Originally, his birthname is Lelouch vi Britannia. But after he was dethroned as the 11th Prince and became a hostage diplomat in Japan, he changed his name to Lelouch Lamperounge. It is for his revenge for his mother's death (because he blames his father, Empreror Charles for not doing anything to protect his mother). The other characters who know about this are his bestfriend, Suzaku Kururugi and Ashford Academy Student Council President Milly Ashford.

As a Student

he is intelligent, even compared to a genius-level. He is often seen sleeping in class and likes to skip his P.E class (as he is not good with physical activities). Lelouch is the vice-president of Student Council. He is seen as a normal student in school.

As Zero

In order to crush down the Britannian regime and to carry out his revenge (and give Nunnally a better future), he used the Elevens and made a group called Order of the Black Kngihts. Under his rule, they helped many civilian Elevens to gain their trust. Thus they're calling themselves the "Allies of Justice".

Being the leader, Lelouch used an alias "Zero" and wear a cape and mask to cover up his identity. So most of Black Knights members didn't know his identity except for C.C and Kallen Stadtfeld (later on the series).

Since he is intelligent, he can easily devised strategies which let to the success of the Black Knights. He is good at analyzing things and situations. Some events like the appearce of Mao and the kidnapping of Nunnally, and his fight with the Lancelot showed hsi intellectual skills.

Zero Requiem

After he learned about the Ragnarok plan of his parents, he realized that, afterall he'd done, he's just a tool used for the completion of Ragnarok. So together with Suzaku, they made a plan which is called Zero Requiem. At the end of R2, it is revealed that, it is about the assassination of Empreor Lelouch (99th Emperor of Britannia) by Zero (wore by Suzaku). He did so for the restoration of peace, and end of his dictatorship, he accpeted all the worlds anger. It is also for the achievement of his dream for Nunnally to have a better future. He laso cleaned the name Zero being the Ally of Justice.

Special A chapter 90-91 summary (cont.)

Chapter 91

Hikari's proposal brought so much commotion. The overjoyed father of Kei told everyone (as in, everyone..XD) about Kei-Hikari engagement. He even gave expensive gifts to Hanazono family. Also, everyone in school is celebrating for the couple. Even Yahiro and Sakura was there. Yahiro organized the engagement party and Sakura for the dress. Hikari became pressured for all of this. She just did it because that ring will serve as promise between the two of them. A promise that she'll never leave Kei's side. Knowing Hikari's condition, Kei declined the engagement but told her in private that he still wears the ring.

Another conflict will arise because of the arival of Kei's grandfather. I hope he'll interfere no more *crosses fingers*. No more schemes from him. AT first, I thought that Aoi will be the rival of Kei for Hikari but that will be impossible ince he adores Kei so much. Kyaaa, Kei is really sweet. His sweetness and understanding is never-ending and failing.^_^

Everyone, let's look forward to the ending of S.A since it has already come to its final volume.

Special A chapter 90-91 summary

Chapter 90

This is the continuation of Kei's jealousy to Iori Tokiwa, the guy who wants to snatch the 1st place, as well as, Hikari from Kei.

Kei becomes anxious on dealing with his jealousy since he looks like someone who's ready to kill which makes Hikari afraid of him. On the other hand, Hikari tried to explain him the condition that Tokiwa gave. Upon hearing it, Kei became angry angain and tried to settle things between Tokiwa and he. But then again, he realized that what he needs to do is to make Hikari happy and not making her worried. At the end of this chapter, Hikari proposed to Kei.

Zettai Kareshi (Absolute Boyfriend)

This 32-chapter manga is written by Yuu Watase, same creator of Fushigi Yuugi. The story is about a high-school girl named Riiko Izawa who got dumped by the guy she confessed to. Then, she purchased a robotic guy online. It was delivered the very next day and he insisted that he is Riiko's ideal boyfriend. After learning about Riiko's "boyfriend", her childhood friend is starting to show affections on her. Thus, a light-hearted love story has begun.

Honestly, when I first read a chapter of it on one issue of Shoujo Beat, i thought that this is just a bizarre comedy love story with full of fanservice in it. That made an impression of me. Few months have passed, while searching on shujo manga titles that I'm going to read next, I came across with this title again. This time, I gave it a try. From then on, Zettai Karshi or ABsolute Boyfriend proved that I'm very wrong in judging it right away.

The plot is not that unique since there are also other stories like that about human-robot relationship and its very shoujo-ish. There are also some fanservices (mostly by Night..XD). It started fast and the mood is light. As the story progresses, it makes you want to know more what will happen next. The ending is good. i'm really contented in how it ends since it's realistic and makes me love it more.

The heroine is, of course, the usual type. An ordinary girl surrounded with bishies. On some occasions, she can be dumb and be overwhelmed by her emotions. One good point of hers is the growth of her character. Night, on the other hand is really awsome (well, he's programmed to be like that) but it will also give me creeps if there's really a guy like that.

If you're a fan of Fushigi Yuugi, then most likely you'll find some striking resemblance of the characters of both stories. Girls ( who love bishies) would enjoy reading this as the guys were drawn beautifully.

Overall, this is a worth reading manga that even if you're not a fan of Yuu Watase's work, you'll surely love this.

Note: The live adaptation of this was shown in Japan last year starring Hayami Mokomichi as Tenjo Night, Mizushima Hiro as Asamoto Soshi, and Aibu Saki as Izawa Riiko.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 (Anime)

The season two started a year after the "death" of Zero thus Lelouch returns to his normal highschool life. after his meeting with C.C again, he remembered his identity as Zero and what happened after the last episode of season one making Lelouch more revengeful than before.

I never thought that this season of Code Geass would be more intersting than its first season. Though I'm not a fan of CLAMP's works, I love this series, plot-wise and art-wise.

Compared to its first season, R2 has a lot of twists and turns that will eventually keep you at the edge of your seats. it has beome darker and more dramatic as the characters verged more of their serious side. The characters maturity adds to the mind-boggling plot of the story.

Speaking of characters, some of the come-backing characters have their vengeful plots. Addition to that is the appearance of new characters which will surely make the story more interesting and may help in the unfolding of mysteries and questions previously arise from the season one.

The opening songs, O2 by Orange Range and World End by Colours are all good. While the ending song Shiawase Neiro is a bit sad (but still good) and the ending video looks based from manga.

All in all, if you're really a hardcore fan of Code Geass then you'll surely love this one. This is an action packed anime plus the mecha genre along with it.
